Once you have arrived at Malaga airport there are excellent facilities and special check-in and information desks exclusively for wheelchair users.
Look for the yellow signs with ‘Sin Barreras’ written on it.
ACCESSIBILITY AND SUITABLE TRANSPORT
The distance from Malaga airport is 59 kilometers, about a 50 minute drive.
Despite its somewhat hidden and quiet location, the villa is remarkably easily accessible via good -and smooth- main roads. Only the last mile to the villa the road is at places somewhat uneven so make sure you drive slowly.

For night and early morning rides they charge an extra fee (30€).

To assure optimal wheelchair accessibility all aspects of the villa, pool and garden were reviewed during a number of interviews with wheelchair users.
After that a six months renovation was carried out with optimal accessibility in mind. Many aspects and features of the villa were altered or build new to help wheelchair users to be able to be as independent as possible during their stay in Villa Zafarraya.
• The villa and garden are now completely barrier-free with even surfaces everywhere. The original tiled floor has been sanded down to avoid any height differences.
• In the kitchen, living room and bed- and bathroom sufficient turning space for effortless use of the wheelchair has been foreseen; the same goes for the wide paths in the garden.
• Through a wide sliding door of 3ft / 92 cm you reach the adapted master bedroom.
• This bedroom has a stylish and movable (to the left or right) double high-low bed with enough maneuvering space. To the right of the bed there is a space of 5ft / 150 cm. The bed can also be moved to the right if the transfer from wheelchair to bed needs to be made on the left side.
• Top quality high/low care bed
• The adapted ensuite bathroom has an easily accessible rain shower where a choice between the use of a (removable) shower seat or a shower wheelchair is foreseen.
• The built-in toilet has safety rails on both sides. Its surface is at a convenient height 1.5ft / 48cm for most wheelchair users and it is equipped with a handheld bidet sprayer.
• The washbasin is accessible while sitting in a wheelchair.
• The bathroom has underfloor heating and a very good drainage, so the bathroom is always nice and warm and the floor dries quickly after a shower.
• The two trolleys in the bathrooms are on wheels, optimizing the room to move if needed.
• The modern kitchen is height adjustable, from 75 cm to 100 cm / 31 in to 40 in, and has an accessible worktop, sink and induction hob.
• The dishwasher, refrigerator and combi oven are at a height that allows easy operation from the wheelchair.
• All drawers in the kitchen can be easily opened by applying light pressure.
• The elegant wheelchair-accessible dining table is ideal for family meals or for playing one of the available games together.
• In the living room you will find a sitting area with a comfortable built-in sofa.
• The parking space is very close to the door of the house and has a flat concrete surface and sufficient room on all sides.
• Flat and even surfaced paths in the garden lead to lovely spots that are all fully wheelchair accessible.
• The private swimming pool can be heated all year round and has a ramp for easy wheelchair access.
• You can find a custom-made outdoor shower with a beautiful view.
• There is a large shady patio under the pergola with an impressive tree table that can accommodate a wheelchair.
During your stay we will provide you with the devices below on a complimentary basis.
• A hanging shower chair.
• A shower wheelchair for use in the shower, the outdoor shower and the pool.
• A mobile electric hoist for use in the bedroom and bathroom as well as for helping enter the pool (in combination with a sling or the shower wheelchair).
• As an extra service we provide the ‘Feather’, a lightweight electronic wheelchair for use in the villa and the garden. It can be folded and easily put in the back of a car for use during one of your excursions.
